The tragedy of the PZL M-28 Bryza plane.

On March 31, 2009, there was a plane crash at the Polish Navy airport in Babie Doły. The entire crew of a PZL M-28 Bryza transport plane, consisting of four people, was killed.

While performing training tasks, the crew practiced emergency landing. Around 5:00 pm the plane landed "on one engine". Being already above the air base, he unexpectedly "turned" and fell to the ground. It immediately burst into flames, and its remains were scattered on the grassy part of the airport and among the surrounding trees. All services immediately began the rescue operation. Units of the State Fire Service from Puck and Gdynia also arrived (7 combat vehicles).

The Minister of National Defense, Bogdan Klich, appeared at the crash site. Until the cause of the tragedy is clarified, all flights of this type of aircraft have been suspended. He gave condolences to the families; President of the Republic of Poland Lech Kaczyński, Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland Donald Tusk, Minister of National Defense Bogdan Klich. Mourning was announced.

The plane that crashed is a good Polish plane produced by WSK PZL Mielec. The plane belongs to light transporters, with short take-off and landing properties. The breeze is considered by aviators to be a failure-free plane. Until now, there have been no accidents involving this type of aircraft in Poland. The only crash of the Bryza plane happened in 2001 in Venezuela. The entire management of PZL Mielec, the manufacturer of these aircraft, died then. The lost plane was 12 years old and had a flight time of only 1,500 hours. Built at PZL Mielec in 1997.

On the day of the tragedy, the weather conditions were very good.

So much media information. But the Polish Navy and Polish Aviation community was plunged into pain. Tears pressed down to his eyes. The inhabitants of Gdynia, when they learned about the crash, lit candles at the airport gate late in the evening. After the accident, the field bishop of the Polish Army, General Tadeusz Płoski, wrote: "I am moved by the news of the plane crash that once again pulled another four pilots out of the ranks. Experiencing pain and regret, we turn to the merciful God, asking for the gift of heaven for those who unexpectedly ended their course. for the comfort and strengthening of families, friends and mourners in mourning. " And we wish the families of those who have departed for eternal service the protection of Jesus Christ and faith, before the passing time brings relief, although it does not erase the tragic memories. Honor their memory!

Lieutenant Commander, pilot Roman BERSKI, born on April 27, 1961. A graduate of the Higher Officer Aviation School in 1986. Flight time 1 500 hours. He was the head of the reconnaissance section - pilot instructor in the Naval Aviation Brigade. During the flight, he was a controlling pilot.

Naval captain, pilot Marek SZTABIŃSKI, born on August 18, 1973. A graduate of the Air Force Academy in 1996. Flight time 1 134 hours. He was the training chief of the 28th Naval Aviation Squadron. During the flight he was the crew commander - training pilot.

Naval lieutenant pilot Przemysław DUDZIK, born on 5 May 1982. A graduate of the Air Force Academy in 2005. Flight time of 260 hours. He was an officer in the reconnaissance section of the 28th Naval Aviation Squadron. During the flight, he was a trained pilot.

Navy staff ensign Ireneusz RAJEWSKI, born on March 31, 1966. A graduate of the School of Standards of the Air Force Technical Personnel in 1987. Flight time 1 900 hours. He was a senior aircraft technician in the 28th Naval Aviation Squadron. During the flight, he was an on-board technician.

Cause of the accident.

In June 2009, a public report on the work of the accident investigation committee was released. The Commission concluded that the cause of the crash was the malfunction of the crew during a landing approach with one engine inoperative. The plane was incorrectly configured for landing with one engine running. The flaps were extended incorrectly. There was an asymmetric stall of the plane.
