47 School Helicopter Regiment. 1974 - December 31, 2000.
The 47th Liaison and Sanitary Aviation Regiment was formed by order of the Chief of General Staff of the Polish Army No. 09 / Org of January 16, 1963. The order of the Ministry of National Defense was issued on February 9, 1963. The regiment was formed on May 15, 1963 in Radzyń Podlaski. Disbanded units became his base; - 52nd School Regiment, - 27th Air Squadron from Przasnysz, - 4th Air Squadron from the 36th Special Air Regiment from Okęcie.
The 47th Regiment was equipped with SM-1, SM-2 and Mi-4 helicopters and Yak-12 liaison planes.
The regiment was moved to a new place of permanent dislocation, which was Modlin Airport. The 47th Regiment carried out military flights, medical flights, topographic flights, participated in rescue operations, acted for the benefit of the national economy and secured exercises on military training grounds.
On August 23, 1964, the 47th Regiment received a banner funded by the society of the Płońsk district (Ziemia Płońska).
In 1969, a school squadron was created in the regiment. In 1974, the tasks performed by the 47th Regiment changed. Due to the greater demand for flights performed by helicopters, the 47th Regiment increased significantly. The Polish Army purchased a significant number of new machines. The main task of the 47th Regiment became the training of new helicopter pilots and technical service. The 47th Regiment began training for cadets of the Military Aviation Academy and cadets of the School of Standards for the Flying Personnel of the Air Force in Dęblin. Training of foreign military aviators from the countries of the socialist camp was also undertaken. That is why the 47th Regiment was renamed the 47th School Helicopter Regiment. From 1976, to the 47th Regiment, helicopters of the PZL Mi-2 type, manufactured in Poland, were introduced in large numbers. These helicopters were in service with the 47th Regiment until its dismantling.
On November 4, 1977, the 47th School Helicopter Regiment was transferred to the new stationing site; Nowe Miasto Nad Pilica airport.
In 1993, the Polish PZL W-3 Sokół helicopters were introduced into the equipment of the 47th School Helicopter Regiment. After 1993, the 47th Regiment operated Tactical W-3 Sokół helicopters; 0415, 0417, 0418, 0419, 0501, 0502, 0516, 0517, 0518, 0519, 0520, 0601, 0602, 0603, 0604, 0605, 0606, 0607, 0608, 0609, 0610, 0611, 0612, 0613, 0614, 0615, 0616, 0617, 0618, 0619, 0620, 0701, 0702.
Due to the reorganization of the Polish Army related to Poland's accession to NATO, the 47th School Helicopter Regiment was disbanded on December 31, 2000. It happened on the basis of the decision of the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army No. 89 of September 10, 1999.
During its school activity, the 47th Regiment trained 950 Polish Army cadets and cadets and 187 foreign students.
Badge of the 47th School Helicopter Regiment. The badge with dimensions of 31x24 mm shows a silver eagle with outstretched wings, holding an enameled blue sash in its talons with the date of the formation of the regiment on May 15, 1963. Under the sash, there is a white and red aviation chessboard with the inscription 47 times. The badge was designed by Wojciech Mąkala.
