Until 1994, at the Gdynia Babie-Doły Airport, he was based 34th Regiment of Fighter Air Force equipped with MiG-21 bis aircraft. Due to disarmament arrangements, 34th Regiment of Fighter Air Force was transferred to the Navy. On 1 January 1995, 34 PLM officially and solemnly took place in Babi Dołach. Airplanes were transferred to other branches.

At the Babie-Doły airfield units were stationed in favor of the Navy. The most important is the 28th Puck Air Squadron. At the airport stationed are: PZL An-28, PZL W-3T Sokół, PZL Mi-2, Mi-8 MTV, Kaman SH-2G Super Seasprite, W-3 RM Anakonda.

On January 1, 2003, the 43rd Naval Air Force was established to operate. The base was created by reforming: the 3rd Battalion of the Security of the MW and the 42nd Technical Squadron. The base secured the operation of the 28th Air Squadron.

The celebration of the branch is celebrated on September 12. On the basis of Decision No. 352 / MON, a commemorative badge was introduced in the Base.

On January 1, 2011, the 43rd Naval Air Base was reformed into the 43rd Air Force Base. A 28th Puck Air Squadron was included in the new unit.

By decision of the Minister of National Defense No. 271 / MON of September 11, 2012, a commemorative plaque for the 43rd Air Force Base was established.

On September 6, 2013, the award ceremony took place. The founders were the inhabitants of Pomerania and supporters of maritime aviation.

Decision No. 104 / MON of the Minister of National Defense of April 1, 2015, the base adopted the distinguishing name "Oksywska". Decision No. 340 / MON of December 15, 2016 introduced the identification sign in the database.

The 43rd Maritime Aviation Base based on the decision of the Minister of National Defense No. 291 / MON from October 08, 2013 received the name cdr. compare Edward Szystowski. In 2015, the 3rd Battalion of Supply was given to the patron - kmdr ppor. Zygmunt Marian Horyd.

The 43rd base inherits traditions: Marine Air Force Squadron, Fighter Squadron 30th Navy Air Regiment, 30th Fighter Regiment of the Polish Navy, 34th Fighter Regiment, 18th Mixed Navy Squadron, 18th LV Aviation Fighter Squadron, 18th Rescue Aviation Squadron Liaison Navy, 1st Pucki Air Squadron, 3rd Battalion Security them. Cdr. Sec. Eng. Zygmunt Horyda, 28 Puck Air Squadron, 43 Air Base.

Main tasks of 43rd Bases: protection of the Polish SAR zone in the Baltic Sea and in the coastal zone, transport of people and equipment mainly for the Navy, searching, tracking and destroying submarines using ZOP forces, cooperation with naval forces.
