The history of the PZL Mi-2 Ratownik - Rescue versions.
In 1969, the first version of the Polish helicopter was created for military sea rescue. Until then, the pilot of a combat plane catapulting over the Baltic Sea could only count on rescue from vessels. This, of course, took a long time. The use of a helicopter in a rescue operation in a jump-like manner increased the chance for full success - saving a person. Of course, it was not limited only to saving soldiers, but also actions to save civilians: fishermen, sailors, etc. were undertaken and are being undertaken.
The Mi-2 RM helicopter was developed, where the marking RM is an acronym for Marine Rescue. The Mi-2 RM helicopter was equipped with a winch with a capacity of 120 kg. The left rear door was dismantled as standard, which, due to the car opening method, made it difficult to take the survivor. There is medical equipment on board.
Over the years of service, the Mi-2 RM helicopters have already saved hundreds of people. The most valuable element of the Mi-2 RM helicopter is its crew. People who, by risking their own lives, help others.

Description for the photo: The Mi-2 nb 4711 helicopter was built in 1976. The helicopter served in the 3rd Aviation Squadron from Poznań, then in the 4th Training Aviation Wing. In 2009, he was sent to Darłowo to the 44th Naval Aviation Base, where he received a marine painting. The helicopter made its first flight in Darłowo on October 21, 2009. The machine was used to train pilots and technicians, and performed transport, liaison and exploration tasks at the Baltic Sea. The helicopter spent 4,800 hours in the air and the next renovation was no longer profitable. In 2015, the machine was transferred to the Air Force Museum in Dęblin.
The Mi-2 helicopter is a twin-engine machine in a classic layout with a three-blade main rotor and a twin-blade tail rotor. The helicopter was made entirely of metal, with a half-shell structure.
The rescue versions of the Mi-2 helicopter have specialized equipment. Often similar to this equipment in ambulances. There is always a stretcher on board. Very often, helicopters have a winch.
