The radar is three-coordinate, equipped with an antenna with Active electronically scanned array (AESA). The radar is used in short range (SHORAD) and very short range (VSHORAD) air defense systems. The ZDPSR BYSTRA radar is designed to detect and indicate targets in short-range anti-aircraft missile systems, used to shield tactical combat groups against air attack means. The BYSTRA radar is multi-functional and multi-purpose, with versatile possibilities and applications, having the ability to detect and track typical air threats such as combat aircraft and helicopters (also in hover), missiles, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles.

On September 3, 2019, a contract worth PLN 634.9 million was signed for the supply of 16 BYSTRA radar stations for the Polish Army. The deliveries are planned for the period 2022 - 2025. The radar can cooperate with the PSR-A Pilica anti-aircraft system and the PSR-A Pilica + development system. The radar can work in several modes tailored to the combat task being carried out. In each of the modes, the omnidirectional search is performed by turning the antenna and scanning the space with the transmit-receive pattern formed by software. The radar service consists of two soldiers.
