OKB Mikojan and Guriewicz MiG-21 MF in Poland.
Immediately after the introduction of the MiG-21 M version, the MiG-21 MF type 96 A version began to be received. The aircraft were built at the Moscow plant. Deliveries lasted from the end of 1972 to 1975. On December 11, 1972, the first 9 machines were delivered, mainly series 65. In total, we bought 120 (other sources state 116). Poland has purchased depleted versions. Engines and radar stations as in our version of the MiG-21 M. (R-11 F2S-300 engine, RP-21 MA radar). The aircraft have R-11 engines instead of the more powerful R-13 engines.
During delivery, the MiG-21 MF batch from Moscow was brought in, which questioned the quality of the airframe. Division command refused to accept these planes. They were sent to the producer from Malbork. Therefore, the last batch of 20 MiG-21 MF machines was delivered to us from Gorki's plants, because the production of this version was transferred there. These aircraft have unusual serial numbers, with the so-called 96A00 prefix. They were adopted on December 11, 1975.
1 MiG-21 MF nb 6503 No. 966503. Delivered in 1972. From the beginning, the aircraft was in stock 11 PLM in Strachowice, all the time in the 2nd Air Squadron. In the summer of 1988, he was transferred to Krzesiny. In the autumn of 1990, he returned to the 11th PLM to the first squadron in Wroclaw. The aircraft was still white at the time of the first major repair at WZL Dębin. In 1992, he underwent major renovation and returned to 11th PLM to the 2nd Air Squadron in Mierzęcice, where he flew to the unlucky landing in August 1993. It was a hard landing. As an exhibit in Mierzęcice set up in front of the terminal. The plane was painted in graffiti.
