Expanded Terminal.
On November 4, 2001, a new, modern Terminal was opened at Ławica Airport, which architecturally resembled an outstretched parachute. The area of the Terminal was 14,000 square meters, and the capacity of 1.2 - 1.5 million passengers per year. The airport could handle 430 passengers on arrival and 450 on departure simultaneously per hour, which is 880 passengers per hour. The accession of the Republic of Poland to the European Union, accession to the Schengen zone and another great emigration of Poles for bread, caused a great dynamics of air traffic growth. Within a few years, the Terminal turned out to be too tight. In 2011, binding arrangements and decisions were made regarding the expansion of the existing Terminal. The project has retained the current character of the facility, referring to the symbolism of an outstretched parachute. The main contractor was HOCHTIEF Polska. The investment was carried out on a turnkey basis in three stages, without interrupting the commercial traffic. Let us recall that in 2011, the Polish Army completely left the Ławica Airport, and on December 23, 2009, the Wielkopolska Voivode took over the 18.35 ha military part of the airport from the Military Property Agency.
