In the period 1984-1988, the 8th Fighter and Bomber Regiment received armed Su-22 M4 combat aircraft and Su-22 UM3K trainer and combat aircraft.

In 1998, the Air Divisions were liquidated, and in their place the 1st Tactical Aviation Brigade was formed, which included: the 8th Fighter and Bomber Regiment in Mirosławiec and the 40th Regiment of Fighter and Bombing Aviation in Świdwin.

The 12th Air Base in Mirosławiec (JW. 3299) was established on January 1, 2000. It consists of branches: 8th Fighter-Fighter Regiment, 40th supply battalion, 42. communication battalion. At the same time, the 8th Tactical Aviation Squadron was created as an aviation component (airplanes and flying personnel).

The 12th Air Base was established on 4 September. This day was determined by the decision of Minister of National Defense No. 239 / MON from August 27, 2003. In 2008, the 12th base commemorative badge was approved (decision No. 558 / MON of 17 December 2008).

In 2009, the 1st Tactical Aviation Brigade was reformed into the 1st Tactical Aviation Wing. On December 31, 2010, the 12th Air Base was demoulded. All Su-22 warplanes were transferred to Świdwin Airport. On January 1, 2011, the Airport Command was formed.

Piotr Tusza (April 2003 - September 2005), Col. MA Pil. Jerzy Piłat (September 2005 - 23 January 2008), colonel pil. MSc. Wojciech Pikuła (April 5, 2008 - May 5, 2010), part after. Lt. Col. Dipl.-Ing. Zbigniew Wolewicz (May 5, 2010 - December 31, 2010).
