Polish Aviation Industry - Part 14

WSK PZL Okęcie. 1950-1960.

In 1951, Okęcie was incorporated into Warsaw as a district. At the same time, the construction of a housing estate for employees of the aviation industry began. The estate was called "Okęcie Lot" and was located between Żwirki i Wigury, 17 Stycznia, F. Hynka streets and allotments.

Around 1950, the communist authorities decided that experiments had to be made and that aviation production had to be based on proven CCCP designs. And so the weak Jak-12 (Яковлев Як-12) aircraft came to Poland.
